Mary Bourne – Visual Artist

Mary Bourne is a visual artist whose work considers how we live in our world. Based in the North East of Scotland, the major theme in her work is our environment and how we relate to it, both physically and subjectively.

Her professional practice is mixed, balancing commissions for the public realm with exhibitions, residencies and education projects.  For her the artwork exists in the space between the artist and viewer, and each can influence its meaning; each individual brings to the work both personal experiences and an understanding of the broader character and history of its setting.
